The Tamang Heritage trail trek is located about 30 km north from Kathmandu valley and south of Tibet border. And this trek will offer you the opportunity to experience mountains, beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows and rhododendron forests. When you are trekking along this trail it’s hoped you will find a new experience as you mix the beauty of the mountain region with the culture of local Tamang and Sherpa people. During your trekking you will see the typical culture and crafts of the local people which have remained untouched from the beginning of the settlement. During this trek you can enjoy the dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. As well as 70 glaciers of varying sizes and high altitude lakes, including Goshai kunda, Pravatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda. The trail starts either from Dunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Thurman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyanjin Gompa, Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang And are traditional Tamang villages culminating cultural features. And an added bonus is a visit to beautiful local Tamang monastery and the holy Pravatikunda Lake at Gatlang adds exhilaration to your trek.
On arriving at the Kathmandu international airport you will be greeted by one of our representatives who will welcome you and assist in your transfer to a hotel. They will be available for any questions along the way and will make sure you have the chance to refresh before briefing you on the upcoming trek.
No one should come to Nepal and not have a guided tour of the Historic city of Kathmandu. With so many world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley its worth spending the day walking round, taking photos and basking in the mixture of cultures that make up Kathmandu. You will get chance to visit such pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu. Then back to the hotel to prepare for the next morning.
After an early breakfast it’s time to hit the road by taking the early Jeep or local bus drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The first part of our drive is quite smooth until Trisuli Bazzar then you hit the rough roads to Syabru Bensi via Dunche. Syabrubesi is the starting point of our trek and it is beautiful lama village so it’s worth staying the night for a look around.
After a quick breakfast it’s time to hit the trail with a steep ascent until you reach Rongga Bhanjyang which takes about 3 hours. Then the going gets easier as the trail
descends down to Goljung village which takes about 45 minutes so here’s a good place to stop for the Lunch. After lunch, you continue trekking again with an ascent until reaching Traditional Tamang village in Gatlang. If you have the energy then it’s worth visiting the Parbati Kund which offers rich biodiversity for the nature lovers and the ancient old monastery.
Today starts with a gentle descent as you pass the many Chorten’s and Mani walls and through the deep forests until reaching Chilime which should take about 2 and half hours. From here you cross a suspension bridge and climb up passing the terraces until reaching Gonggang village which takes about 1 and half hours and you have lunch here. After lunch, the trail gentle ascends until reaching Tatopani where you can enjoy by taking a natural Bath in hot spring. It is believed that to take a Bath in natural Hot Spring, washes away all the aches and pains of the trek so it’s well worth trying.
The day will start with a gentle hike through the forests to reach the Nagthali view point before starting to ascend & descend till Brimdang where one monastery is situated on the hill. You have a great view of Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Himal and other snowy peaks.
Try to wake early as early as possible as there are amazing Himalayan scenery and sunrise view to be seen here. Then after breakfast you start to descend until you reach the Thurman village which takes about 1 and half hour. You can stop for Tea break because you do not find any hotel till Timure before again beginning to descend till
Bhote Koshi Nadi and cross by suspension bridge. Now the trail continues upstream of Bhote Koshi until reaching Timure village which takes about 4 hours and a welcome stop for the night.
Today is an exploration day as you hit the trail to Rasuwagadhi after breakfast gently ascending for around 2 hours following the old trade route to Tibet. At Rasuwagadhi there is a historical fortress which is well worth visiting. After visiting the Rasuwagadhi back to Lodge which takes about 1 and half hour where you can have lunch and enjoy the rest of the day.
As the trek is approaching its end you take a leisurely breakfast before hitting the trail upstream of Bhote Koshi until you reach Lingling. Take a lunch break here before following the trail as it gently ascends till Briddim village. This is a small and beautiful Tamang village and offers Himalayan culture experience in the form of Home-Stay. Another attraction here is the chance to visit an ancient monastery.
Today’s trail takes you pass several hills before crossing a suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River. Then follow the trail for a further 30 minutes to reach the settlement of Syabrubesi where you stay overnight. During this day you will and lunch and dinner in Syabrubesi.
Today you will have an early morning drive to Kathmandu taking around 8 hrs. The aim is to reach Kathmandu late afternoon and then enjoy a night at Thamel. Upon arrival, any hired gears will be collected and your international flight tickets will be distributed.
